Galeano menciona los Zapatistas diversas veces como ejemplo de pueblo alzado contra el capitalismo agresivo y contra las políticas dictatoriales de América Latina. Como casi siempre, los EUA són los que s’esconden detrás de la oscura cortina de todo este teatro...El caso de los Zapatistas es la prueba viviente de la dificultad de intentar vivir de forma libertaria o de forma alternativa al estilo de vida impuesto por el sistema económico que desgraciadamente guía el mundo actual. Ellos son los olvidados por los grandes medios de comunicación de todo el mundo que por supuesto no les interesa mostrar como un pueblo sin gobernantes, organizado de abajo a arriba y sin políticas de coerción puede vivir en comunidad, en harmonía con la naturaleza y de la mano del humanismo.
Una pequeña llama de esperanza entre tanta oscuridad; un pequeño paso hacia la utopía, la libertad.
